Learn How To Release The Tension In Your Body Through Meditation

We all hold tension from the stresses in our daily lives within our physical form. Sometimes, we just need a reset and take a much needed break from the craziness of life. Holding tension, can not only be uncomfortable and restricting of our muscles, but sometimes your body tries to let you know it's time to rest showing as daily aches and pains. As we get older might attribute these aches and pains to the mere fact that we're getting older, saying things such as, "The body's not as young as it used to be."
While that statement may be very true, this is not the case at all. Especially when you read about these 50, 60, 70 and even 80 year old people now taking their fitness to a whole new level and getting in the best shape of their lives. Don't fool yourself... these daily aches and pains are you body's way of telling you to take notice, and take some time to reset. If you keep ignoring it, you will soon wish you hadn't.
One way of releasing the tension within your body is to simply meditate. Meditation is simply bringing together the mind, body and spirit! Time for self-love and healing will make all of the different in your physical body as well as your emotional self. You'll find that you are more clear and focused, grounded and centered. You may even find that you sleep better just by taking a bit of time for you to quiet that chatter.
Here are just a few of the many benefits of mediation: assists chronic inflammation, aids in digestion, assists mental stability, assists in overcoming OCD, soothes PTSD, assists with eating disorders, substance abuse, increases mental clarity and better concentration, promotes a healthy heart, reduces symptoms of anxiety, along with many more benefits of greater health and well-being.
I hold weekly guided meditation sessions at The Salt Hut in Oxford, PA, as well as I've created numerous guided meditations in electronic form for those who are not in my area. These meditations are created with the music of my Crystal Chakra Singing Bowls to boost the healing and harmonizing of the Chakras with sound.
Each mediation is very different with a different goal in mind. Some are very basic relaxation techniques through meditation and others are for those who are looking for a deeper level of healing and guidance in their journey of life and healing themselves, finding their greater purpose in life, receiving intuition from their higher self, or meeting their guides. There's a taste for the beginners of meditation as well as those who've been meditating for some time.
I've recorded two specific one hour-long meditations for the body and releasing tension. The first meditation for the body is called body scan. It's a simple scan of your entire body to release the tension where it's being stored. This meditation allows you to just experience and feel your entire body deeply. It will help you to become aware of the parts of your body that hold the most tension and guides you in releasing it.
The second body mediation is called Talk to Your Body - Prompt It To Go Back To Perfect Health. This meditation guides you to speak to your unconscious mind in the reprogramming of each body part, each system, organ, muscle, and cell. Just as you people use affirmations to re-condition their thoughts, you can speak to your unconscious mind and tell it exactly how it should function according to your needs.
I particularly like this one, because you are guided to use it for the specific needs of your body. As an example, if you have a terrible memory like I do, you can speak to your unconscious mind, letting it know that it's brain memory should function perfectly. Or in the case of a medical issue, you would reprogram your mind and your body to know the exact way it should be functioning.
Oh, the power of mediation. If we all just took the much needed time for ourselves to reset and heal the way our bodies were intended, we would all be so much healthier. Imagine what more you could accomplish in your life if you just stopped briefly enough every day to practice some self-love. Aren't you worth it?

Who is in charge of your emotions?

Everyone wants to enhance their quality of life. Everyone wants to be more fulfilled. But almost all of us get stuck at times in our limiting beliefs and emotional patterns. We make habits out of feeling frustrated, worried, sad or overwhelmed. But it is these disempowering habits that prevent us from doing what we are really capable of – even if that something is just being happy.

While we cannot control the events that happen in our lives, we can master how we experience these events. People are always going to encounter stressful times. It could be losing a job, losing your health or even losing a loved one. Something happens that is outside our control, and it knocks us down. But stress, anger, sadness – these feelings don’t come from the facts, they come from the meaning that we give the facts. Of course, the terrible things that happen are real. But the question is, how are you going to allow that to shape your life? Are you going to let it tear you down, or are you going to use it to empower and enlighten the way you go through life?

It’s all about the meaning that you give the events and experiences of your life. Because when you come up with a new meaning, you can get a new perspective, and, ultimately, a new life.

THE STORIES WE TELL OURSELVES

We unconsciously decide what events and experiences in our life mean; we do it all the time, but may not be aware of it.
Take a downturn in the economy, for example. One person could interpret that as, “I’m going to be broke.” Another person, though, might say, “This means I’m going to work harder and I’m going to be more creative about saving.”
What do you think the outcome of this thought pattern will be for each of these individuals? Pretty different, right? Is it apparent why each will have very different approaches to life, and why each will experience very different emotions? That all comes from the meaning each person assigned to the event.
Now, let’s move to something a little more personal. Consider a woman who had been adopted as a baby. One path she could take is to devalue herself, to believe that because she was adopted, that she wasn’t good enough to be loved. She could also take the opposite approach, and consider the fact that someone chose her and chose to love her. What’s the significance of her decisions over what story to choose? How will this impact her decisions in her daily life? How will it affect her bigger decisions?
The former story creates a sense of loss, while the latter celebrates her life and her worth. And the story she chooses will impact her whole life – because the decisions that control us are the decisions about meaning, and meaning equals emotion.

TRADE YOUR EXPECTATIONS FOR APPRECIATION

If choosing the disempowering story sounds familiar, you aren’t alone. We all tell ourselves stories that make us miserable when we could be feeling joy. We make ourselves feel sad, worried, anxious, shameful, guilty, fearful and enraged on a consistent basis. Why? Because we are wired that way.
The human mind is always looking for what you could lose, what you could have less of or what you could never have. It might seem counterintuitive, but it’s a matter of survival and of protection. You are biologically wired to prepare yourself for the worst at all times. That is why it is up to you to take conscious control over the stories you tell yourself and the resulting emotions you experience.
The secret to doing this is to trade your expectations for appreciation. If you do this, your whole life will change in that moment. And if you keep doing it, your life will change forever.
Go back to the woman who was adopted. She had an expectation that her biological mother and father should have kept her. And that expectation could have tainted her entire life. But if she shifted her expectations to appreciation that somebody picked her consciously and loved her, without the obligation or the biological imperative to do so, her entire life would change. This is the power of trading expectations for appreciation.

TAKING BACK CONTROL

The choice is yours. What are you going to focus on? What story are you going to let guide your life? You get to choose what meaning to assign. This is the one power that you have right now in this moment that can change everything.
The only thing keeping you from getting what you want is yourself. The only thing keeping you from the joy you deserve is the disempowering story you keep telling yourself. But what if you decided right now to offer yourself a new core of belief? What if everything in your life, including the most painful and traumatic events, was happening for you, not to you? What if everything was designed for you to actually have a greater life and have more to give and more to enjoy?
If you want real freedom in your life, you must make a decision to stop allowing external events to shape your happiness. And that is only done by becoming the master of meaning and finding the empowering meaning in anything and everything that comes your way.

Do What Makes You Feel Most Alive

The real journey in life is to do what makes you feel most alive. There is no lack of wonders in this world; it is just you not paying attention often enough to the marvels of this planet. Everything around you is incredible if you are willing to look at it that way. Or it can also be taken for granted.
Which way is your perspective for living today? What can you do to feel more alive? Are you following your heart's calling? Or do you only like what you do?
If I ask, it is because it is the key, the factor that helps you through whatever you are building or creating for yourself. It means to be passionate at the moment without thinking about yesterday or tomorrow, forgetting time. And it is to enjoy and love every part of what you are doing.
But it is also about the frame that you choose to put around things. I mean, merely being alive, is already a marvel of nature. The odds are so stacked against you. Not only being a human being is short of a miracle but living at this moment in time is extraordinary.
The Wonderful Opera of Life
In this day in age, breakthroughs and technologies are happening at an unprecedented rate. Things such as medical or metaphysical discoveries, or the way we connect with people all the way around the globe are a wonder in themselves. How everything we are living in right now is the most marvelous time ever. But you have to look at it that way so that you can feel most alive.
"Life is a wonderful opera, except that it hurts." - Joseph Campbell
So the question is: Do you see it as a beautiful opera or do you just pay attention to the pain?
And if I ask, it is because, at the end of the day, you are going to get what you are focusing on. They are both true. It is both the most amazing time that is ever happening in recorded history. Being alive, you are a part of it, and yet, real things that are terrifying are also happening.
Feeling Alive Begins in Your Mind
But where you put your energy, attention, and emphasis is going to determine what you see and that is the most fascinating. And the most important thing you have to understand, about the way your mind works, is that you get what you focus on. So it is vital to do what makes you feel most alive.
If you focus on the things that are bad, they become real. They will be emphasized, exaggerated, and will monopolize your thoughts. You will see them everywhere. It is no joke; it is a scientific fact. Your mind is literally designed to pay attention to the things that you notice.
Think for a moment! Never had a time where you once noticed a specific car, name, object, or any other thing, and then you saw it all over the place. So, once you remarked something, you suddenly realize that it was around you this entire time.
What Makes You Feel Most Alive
But now that you are focusing on it, now that you are looking for it, it is everywhere. So, whatever you look for, it is going to be all over. If you look for the negative, it will be there. But if you look for the positive, it will overwhelm you, making you feel alive.
Not that it is a bad thing but I used to grind in pursuit of money, and I then burned out. But once I started grinding in the name of what I most believe in and what makes me feel most alive, suddenly I began to succeed, and the rest followed. Today, I do not want to do it in any other way.
What you and I are seeking is the experience of being truly alive. That is when you are living in the present moment and not judging, or getting any highs or lows. It is just living and taking it all in. And it becomes so natural at some point that you feel most alive. However, you should prioritize more of the things that make you feel passionate and excited, and do it regularly.
Focus on Being Alive
So, it is a good reminder that success or wealth always turns up when you choose to do something that you love or make you feel full of life. That is it! It is the dominant calling within us. It is figuring out what makes you come alive.
Therefore, it is not keeping up with 'Game of Thrones' or how much you can get out of it, but instead, something meant for you. It is something particular, and it will be different for everyone. So, find the thing that makes you feel most alive.
Focus on it. Think about it. Put all your energy on that one thing. Set your time and all your attention there. Shift away from seeing the pain and the opera, and instead see the wonder in it all. Look at the glory that is just everything around you, the opportunities, and the fact that you are alive.
Ideas to Feel Most Alive
The point here is to do something that you feel passionate, excited, exhilarated about and most alive.
  • Tell someone how you feel about them instead of waiting.
  • Ask advice or encouragement from someone who has done what you want to do.
  • Start finally pursuing your passion.
  • Make the changes you want to make in your life.
  • Try something you always wanted to try.
  • Begin to create something you would enjoy and take the first step in doing it.
  • Go somewhere you always wanted to go.
  • Use a new belief to push yourself out of your comfort zone.
  • Take one tiny step toward your big goal today.
  • Pick one thing that resonated with you and do it.
Find Fulfillment in Life
Once you can see that those necessary things you take for granted like you can breathe through your nose and out through your mouth, and all of that typical stuff. You then see how miraculous it is, how connected we are to all of life, and understand that the name of the game is, before all else, what makes you feel most alive.
When you realize it and feel that way, wealth, success, ambition will follow. It is finding fulfillment in your life. Once you understand that this is a game of attention, you then can entirely control what you focus on.
So, choose very wisely, my friends, because your life will become the result of the things that you look at, and pay attention to. You may feel terrified, but so thrilled and alive. Therefore, do what makes you feel most alive in this world.
