Uncover Why You Want It

I have been researching over 94 super achievers over the past five years. My research has led me to a number of very interesting hypotheses regarding the characteristics, personality traits, philosophies and behaviours, they all possess. My objective has been to try to understand why some people achieve greatness. Yet more talented people, with so much pent-up potential, just seem to keep spinning their wheels throughout their lives and never seem to achieve anything meaningful. My research, so far, has revealed some interesting results to me.
Characteristics common to Super Achievers
  1. Vision
Without exception, every one of them had a crystal clear picture of exactly what they want to achieve in the future and when asked to describe it, they passionately look up to the right and deliver a passionate, description, of this picture of possibility, as though they have already achieved it. There is not even a moment's pause, as they easily describe what they see in the future. Can you describe and articulate your vision as easily? If you are not clear on what you want, then the way your future will turn out, is out of your hands and will be left to the whims of the world and those around you. Do you want to surrender your future to chance and have no control over how things will turn out? Wrestle back control of your life right now, by clarifying the direction you want it to go by, describing your vision for the future.

  2. Belief
The second characteristic, which I observed in every super achiever, was an unwavering belief in their own ability to achieve their vision. When asked a series of questions about the possibility of living their vision. Without exception every one of them believed that they had what it took or they could acquire the knowledge or support they needed from someone who did. There was not a shadow of doubt in their minds that they would achieve their vision in the future. How do you feel about yourself? Do you have what it takes to achieve greatness or are you constantly engaged in negative self-talk, where you constantly doubt yourself and your abilities? Building belief is a process and is not something, which will happen in a day. If you get support to help you build your self-belief, self-esteem and are 100 % committed to your future success. You can gradually build your crucial self-belief, to a point where it will support you to achieve the picture of possibility, you have envisioned for the future.

  3. Commitment to Life-Long learning
As Jim Rohn said, "A formal education will get you a job, a commitment to lifelong learning, will make you a fortune" Without exception, every super achiever, I have researched was committed to their personal growth. They were almost like sponges, always looking for ways to grow and improve. They did not only read and/or listen to audio books, attend seminars etc. They were committed to grow every day, and it was so inspiring to be around them and to observe the hunger for knowledge. They were constantly asking questions, exploring, observing and consciously storing away any new lessons or experiences they had each day. How much time do you invest into your personal development every day? I cannot say when you will start to see remarkable results start to unfold in your life. But I can confidently say that if you invest a minimum of 2 hours a day into your personal development and growth, you will over time, exponentially increase your pace of progress and attract incredible levels of success to yourself.

  4. Work Ethic
Success in whatever form it may come is the result of consistent hard work, persistence and patience. Every one of the super achievers I have researched worked tirelessly every day on their success. Not one of them had any unique talent, unusual ability or social advantage. They were clear all just very clear on what they wanted, believed in their abilities, constantly worked to improve their knowledge, worked really hard and knew why they wanted to achieve greatness. How hard are you willing to work? Does the thought of giving up some of your leisure time scare you? If you want to achieve the meaning and fulfilment you have only dreamt about until now. Accept that it is going to require work, do the tough stuff daily and the doors of possibility burst open on a future of wonder. Commit to do what it takes, be clear about what and why you want, believe it is possible for you to achieve it and "NO-THING" is beyond the realm of possibility for you.

  5. Why do you want it?
All the super achievers also had absolute clarity about why they wanted to achieve their vision. The reasons ranged from significance, to legacy, to helping and supporting others, etc. All their reasons why they wanted to achieve greatness were focused on things greater than themselves. Yes, all of them at one stage or other had been driven by selfish, self-interest. But without exception, they all stated that, as soon as they changed their focus from self and instead focused on others or a reason greater than themselves, their whole world changed and greatness flowed in. What is your reason why you want to achieve anything meaningful with your life? Uncover your reason why and everything just gets easier. Even when the inevitable challenges do come your way, you will have the drive, passion and deep rooted inspiration, to support you to mitigate or overcome all of them.

  6. Love What you do
The other area where the super achievers really stood out, for me, was that they loved what they did. They woke up every day excited by the prospect of their day, anticipating the challenges and rewards it would bring. Do you love what you do, or are you waking up every day wondering how you will get through the day, week or year. Learn the art of loving what you do and you will have uncovered an incredible secret to success.

Example:
My Purpose and Vision
To live, to love, to be mega happy, consistently growing, helping millions of people invite similar levels of meaning and fulfilment into their own experience, for the greater good of all concerned.
Action Idea: Invest a little time today to think about all the above characteristics. Explore your own characteristics, to see how you can sculpture or mould your own so they can become more prevalent. You are a super achiever, the only person, who does not believe it is "YOU"

Top 10 Beautiful Mind Do's and Don'ts

1. Do create a "money consciousness" - that is based on positive beliefs and attitudes and emotions around money, competition and abundance.
2. Be willing to forgive - yourself first and foremost for anything in the past or present that you are still carrying feelings of guilt around. And then seek to forgive everyone else in your life that you feel resentment towards. Guilt and resentment are poisons that affect you - not the people you are holding grudges against.
3. Do take heart - spend more time being aware of what it feels like to sit in your heart center. Breathe in the energy of pure love as you do this and then slowly breathe out this loving energy with the intention of sending it to the rest of humanity. Your soul will awaken like a giant inside of you when you do this.
4. Do something - take positive action. Sometimes we can feel so overwhelmed by everything on our to-do lists and our families and their expectations that it is difficult to stay focused on spiritual awareness and growth. Even if you spend only ten or fifteen minutes per day at this, you will make a significant difference in creating your beautiful mind.
5. Be happy - there is nothing more beautiful than a smile. Seek to experience real inner joy - your soul's joy - and I can guarantee that your beliefs and attitudes will magically transform as a result.
6. Don't worry - perhaps I should have written this on before 'be happy' and I could have just quoted a song. But really, worry is one of the most destructive emotions going. It literally acts as a shield to any kind of good, positive, or loving vibrations. Assistance of any kind, whether it be from the physical plane or from across the veil, cannot penetrate the shield of worry. Try to replace worry with "healthy concern" as often as possible.
7. Don't dwell on the past - it actually keeps you there unable to move forward no matter what else you try. Our pasts are benchmarks to lessons learned and memories to cherish but that's all. Decide to live for today.
8. Don't get lost in the future - this is the flip side of the coin above, but ultimately the message is the same. When we are constantly putting out attention on tomorrow or a month or a year from now, we actually miss living our life. Days go by and we have nothing to show for it because we're lost in the future. The future really does take care of itself when you live for today, allowing yourself to experience the fullness of your efforts and you connections.
9. Don't judge - yourself especially. We are often our own worst enemy. We are constantly evolving, learning, making mistakes, learning some more. It never ends. What really helps me when I mess up is to simply say "I'm sorry" - and with complete sincerity. It effectively releases me from any emotions of guilt or shame and it enables me to move on with grace.
10. Don't ever give up - there is always a spiritual solution. There is always a helping hand and guidance. There is a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow and it will be yours if you go the distance, as I know you can.
Living as your soul, thinking as a beautiful mind is reward in and of itself. The rest of it, the prosperity, success, love, freedom, peace and fulfillment, that's the icing on the cake. I wish you a beautiful and magical journey in the development of your beautiful mind.

Building Confidence Levels Through Mind Control

Have you ever wondered about how you think? Learning to control your thoughts is a very effective personal development technique for building confidence levels. But the problem is that thinking is hard work, and most people seem to want to avoid it at all costs. They would rather leave things to the intuition to help them make decisions.
But in order to make changes in your life, to build confidence levels, boost your self image and self esteem, and do the things that you currently find difficult, you are going to have to make some changes in your habits.

Making Change Easy
But don't panic - these changes can be very easy. I'm going to discuss the different thinking processes, how they work, and how you can benefit from some simple mind control tips.
We use our senses to collect information, and our habits then tell us what to do with that data. What we need to learn about here is how we can make use of it, and what we did last time we experienced the same input.
The first thing we do when new data is processed through our senses is to check if we have experienced it before, and if so, how did we react to it. If we have experienced it before, chances are we will repeat the exact same reaction and create the same feelings and emotions. It's our pre-programmed habitual way of reacting to that situation or environment.
Are You Living Your Life on auto-Pilot?
These auto-pilot habits and reactions can be good or bad, depending on the situation and experience. Some of these habits are very useful - like driving a car. They allow us to drive the car without too much conscious thought and effort. Have you ever arrived at your destination then wondered how on earth you got there? It was you automatic habit that got you there.
So in the case of driving a car, these habits are good. But when it comes to weak and debilitating behaviours, these automatic habits are bad. For example, if you have a habit of being nervous or stressed when you have a lot of tasks to do at work, then this habit is weakening you and holding you back. Or if the thought of having a dinner party fills you with fear and anxiety, this is a weakening habit that is disempowering you.
Your habits are controlling the way you automatically react to all these situations - and you instinctively go along with it without asking yourself why you are reacting that way. But the good news is that weak and disempowering habits and emotions can be changed - and fairly easily too.
How To Have An Interesting Conversation - With Yourself
You start by simply being aware of how you are reacting. Then you ask yourself some probing questions - like "why am I responding in this way?", and "how would I really like to feel when in this situation?" Asking how you would like to feel and respond is a great question to ask, as it allows you visualize the end result. See yourself feeling happy, or confident, or relaxed and in control.

Once you know the end result you want, you might want to ask "what's the best way for me to start to feel that way, or behave that way, or react that way?" It may sound strange but this all hangs on you asking yourself some simple questions, and supplying some answers.
To take control of your thinking process, you simply need to ask questions. These questions are the start of your personal development plan. To get better answers, ask better questions. When you react in a negative way, ask yourself why you are feeling that way, and how you would prefer to feel. Your feelings have a very strong bearing on what you will eventually do to overcome those inhibitions.
So there is a simple technique for building confidence levels. Decide to feel good about something, look for how you can start to feel good about it, and remind yourself to feel good each time you start to feel bad in that situation, and very soon you will form a new and empowering habit which eliminates the old one completely.

Developing Your Extraordinary Mindset Opportunities

Just like artists who unleash their talent for being creative, you too can develop your own inspired creativity using the talents you have. Since your thoughts, attitudes, and expectations affect everything you do as a leader, you need to also look at your priorities as well as identify success factors for your company. Your critical goals and strategies to achieve these talents and successes are good places to begin. Experience new ways of thinking, not just about leadership, but about everything you do.
But business is business, and you want to get to the top and stay there. What do you do to make that happen? In paving your way toward becoming a better leader than you have been, the following tips are what I found for Developing an Extraordinary Mindset of Opportunities for those of you who want to become extraordinary leaders and those of you who are leaders and want to become even more
extraordinary leaders:
1. Develop Extraordinary Mindsets: Since your beliefs or the way you think produce the specific results you want, ask yourself, "Do I have a solid understanding of my game plan?" If so, begin to create attainable goals that will generate powerful results. If not, begin by writing down what you have already accomplished, and then add to that list what you want to accomplish as a business leader.
2. Develop Leadership Bench Strength: Be ready to strengthen your leadership capabilities. Tap into your natural strength areas of high performance management, articulating and implementing your vision, inspiring your people, having integrity, being accountable, as well as even more importantly, make things happen.
If you feel that some of your skills need a helping hand, build on them. Leading a team or a department is different from managing a team or a department. With that in mind, having a foundation of leadership skills on which to build gives you the opportunity to strengthen those skills when you use them and to gain other skills in the process. By integrating your new skills with the skills you already have, you are able to perform your job more effectively. It is vital that you acquire new skills that will enable you to perform effectively. Do not ignore any weaknesses you find either - work on improving them.
3. Focus your Mind: Evaluate your skills, knowledge, and competencies. Start by writing down a list of the things you have accomplished that were so exceptional that they gave you better results than what you expected. Manage your time according to your priorities. Also, when you make a decision, make sure you have both short- and long-term goals in mind. (Your legacy is also on the line here).
4. Take Control of Your Creativity: Do not analyze the reasons that something did not work to the exclusion of improving the situation so that it will work the next time. That is a waste of energy and time. At times you may need to go beyond traditional thinking when you are met with a challenge. Thinking more creatively by first brainstorming about how to solve a problem or in implementing a policy might be what is needed. Having an exchange of ideas with others can trigger the beginning of what you are looking for regarding a solution to a problem or even a new product or service that your company is looking to produce.
5. Exceptional People Skills: Have you ever wondered how some people can walk into a room full of strangers and leave with new friends and business acquaintances? This is where your interpersonal skills come into play as they are related to all of your other competencies. Look at how your skills are compared to those of Daniel Goleman's Emotional Intelligence. (See Goleman's book entitled: Working with Emotional Intelligence as there are just too many to list here.)

6. View Obstacles as Opportunities: Do not think of the downside of what is holding you back or of how this is going to stop you from getting to where you want to go. Instead, think of obstacles as stepping stones and think of ways to get over what is stopping you. Learn to develop new ways of thinking about opportunities. You will be amazed of your improved communication skills, team-work, commitment to your work, as well as your increased organizational performance.
7. Forward Thinking: Knowing what to lead and aligning your skills with confidence and practical ideas to challenge issues with practical and creative solutions encourages the leader to think beyond the confines of traditional leadership. Since it provides you with different perspectives, your insights become unique for solving the issues at hand.

Luck has nothing to do with it

That’s right: Luck has nothing to do with it, as some allegedly "fortunate" people say. And in this case, "it" doesn’t just mean confidence.

It means life. Life as you'd like it to be. And the life that we see someone leading, when we immediately consider them "lucky".

See, whenever someone seems to reap all the rewards in life, we tend to think of them as "fortunate" or "lucky", yeah?

Well, would you believe me if I told you that ascribing "luck" to anyone or anything is potentially harmful to us?

What exactly is luck anyway? Many people would probably define it as something like, "when things coincidentally fall out to your advantage". But is it really just that?

And more importantly, would we need more than merely coincidence to receive the gifts of life?

(SPOILER ALERT: Yes. Yes it does.)

When Michael Jackson recorded the "Thriller" album, did it sell millions because of "luck"? Or was it because he had spent his entire childhood and adolescence working his derrière off, meticulously honing his craft and gathering a hugely talented team of producers, songwriters and A&R people behind him?

When Steve Jobs released the first iPhone, did it become hugely successful because of "luck"? Or was it because he dared to take chances, push the envelope, fulfil the needs that his customers had -- even ones they didn’t realize they had -- and amass an army of professional developers and marketers behind him?

Sure, Michael Jackson was probably as close to being the proverbial natural talent as they come. And Steve Jobs, according to many, was a natural visionary who simply thought outside the box and dreamt big.

But what good would that have done them if they hadn’t put in the work, insisted upon their dreams, and kept at it for years and years?
Luck has nothing to do with it because "it"doesn’t happen without taking action.

Here’s another thing:

Have you ever seen "Forrest Gump"? If not, it’s a fine movie, and you should see it at least once.*

Forrest Gump, our titular protagonist, is clearly slow-witted, but likeable. And he somehow manages to walk through life and attract all kinds of success and fortune as he cluelessly goes along. Only he never realizes it. Because success and fortune simply doesn’t resonate with his humble mind.

Let’s pause here for a moment. Now, think about your own life.

Have you ever learned a new word, and then in the following days and weeks you saw and heard that word everywhere?

Or have you ever been unemployed and looked for jobs, and all of a sudden job applications are everywhere?

I know, right?

The key word here is awareness.

Forrest Gump doesn’t consciously experience fame and fortune, because his awareness is on a different level. When we’re consciously aware of something, we’re gonna find it.

Not because there’s more of it, but simply because we’ve become aware of it. Like a hunter who deliberately ignores anything but the potential sights and sounds of his prey.
Luck has nothing to do with it, because what good would all the coincidence in the world do us if we weren’t aware of it?

"But wait a minute! What was that thing you said about how ascribing luck to anyone could be "harmful"??"

Yeah, see, that’s because it’s something that non-fident people tend to do. Which is rarely beneficial.

It’s when we’re non-fident that we tend to think in terms of "luck" — and "bad luck". Specifically, we tend to think that other people get all the luck, and that we’re victims of unfortunate circumstances.

This is a conveniently easy way of thinking, because it takes the responsibility for our lives out of our hands. And for the same reason, it’s also a dangerous way of thinking.

But when we allow ourselves to go for the life we want, consistently taking action and raising our awareness will make sure that we get it.

Some people might be born with certain advantages, yes. But imagine how many people never put that advantage to any use. Either because they never see the possibilities and/or because they’re simply too shy to act on it.

And now, think of all the famous media persons who obviously wouldn’t recognize talent even if it came out of nowhere and took away all their limelight.

Think of all the wealthy corporate leaders who got where they are by being uncompromising, cold as ice, playing the game and doing what’s best for the company no matter what.

Think of all the powerful politicians, all the Frank Underwood’s of the world, who got to where they are by lying, manipulating, and probably worse.
Really, luck has nothing to do with it. But being aware of our opportunities, and taking consistent action towards them has everything to do with it.

ACTION ITEM:

This week, take up learning something new. Something you've been wanting to get into, only you couldn't find the time (or whatever excuse you made for yourself).

Set aside 1/2 hour every night, monday through friday, for working on that thing only. Nothing else. This means, turn off your phone. No phone; no social media or other distractions. Just you and your new challenge.

Getting into this sort of habit will eventually prove to us that luck has nothing to do with it. -- And that practice, consistency, and focus are the keys to accomplishing pretty much anything.
* Yes, I know it’s originally a book. So are a lot of great movies.
